Rudder Motor Combo - 2, April 24, 2011 When I rotate the rudder up. I can slip a wooden peg through a hole and drive it cross country, no mount and dismount the motor/rudder combo rig!
Rudder Motor Speed Control, April 24, 2011 The trolling motor speed is controlled with a simple rheostat.I used a lunch meat box to house the rheostat and water proof wire connectors to connect the wires. Stick on vinyl lettering finished the job.
Interior of Speed Control , April 24, 2011 The lunch meat box can be seen at the top and the water proof connectors at the bottom. The box and rheostat are mounted on a removable panel covering lazarette access.
Garage Fit 1, June 22, 2011 This was the goal: a garage kept sail boat. I had to lower the mast section below the hinge to make it. That had other consequences too.
Garage Fit 2, June 22, 2011 With the boat in as far as I can, it just barely allows the door to shut. Close but I got the cigar!
Garage Fit 3, June 22, 2011 To get the boat in, after rudder modification for the motor, it is necessary to push it tight to the wall. If it were even two more inches longer, this wouldn't work!
Steering - Plan C, December 6, 2011 Thanksgiving day, the steering tiller arm broke. This is the fix using epoxy resin and a steel strap. The bolts are 'all thread' with lock nuts on both sides. This should hold under any conditions!
Motor Mount Plan C, December 10, 2011 The motor in the rudder was too heavy and big. I rebuilt it again. This is the end, I can't rebuild it again. But it works out better than my previous idea.
